Activity One: Create an eBook
Over the course of the next seven lessons we will be focusing on the Civil Rights and People’s movements of the 1960’s. Each day we will focus on a particular aspect as displayed on your Unit Syllabus for the first half of the class. For the second half, you will be working independently or with a partner on a project relating to the movement.
Option One: An eBook on a movement during the Civil Rights Era
Using the website http://www.tikatok.com, you will be creating an eBook on a movement during the civil rights era in the 1960’s. Although there is not a minimum page limit, there is a minimum on what to include on those pages. Your table of contents should follow this format:
I. Introduction of movement (10 pts.)
II. Featured Civil Rights Leader #1 (5 pts.)
III. Featured Civil Rights Leader #2 (5pts.)
IV. Featured Civil Rights Leader #3 (5pts.)
V. Civil Rights Group #1 (5 pts.)
VI. Civil Rights Group #2 (5 pts.)
VII. Civil Rights Event #1 (5 pts.)
VIII. Civil Rights Event #2 (5 pts.)
IX. Government in Civil Rights (4 Pieces of Legislation) (10 pts.)
X. Civil Rights Today Response #1 (15 pts.)
XI. Civil Rights Today Response #2 (15 pts.)
= 85 points
Additional points are as follows:
Citations= 5 points
Use of Class Time= 5 Points

1. Introduction
a. In the introduction you will simply introduce your selected Movement. You may choose to do this last, as you will be better off providing the information after you have learned what the Movement entailed. For the introduction, make sure you just give an over with the basics: Who, What, When, Where, Why, and How.
2. Featured Civil Rights Leader
a. Using websites, eLibrary and books in class, you will choose three individuals to feature as a Civil Rights leader. For each person, you will write out two paragraphs:
i. Who they are, and a background of their life.
ii. What their contribution to the Civil Rights movement
3. Civil Rights Group
a. Using websites, eLibrary and books in class, choose two groups to feature in your book.
i. Describe who those groups are and their leader (if applicable)
ii. Describe what they did for your selected Movement
b. DO NOT just copy what is written on websites or books. You may only use that as a backdrop.
4. Civil Rights Events
a. Choose two events that happened during the Movement. Listen in class for ideas and review daily notes.
5. Government in Civil Rights
a. The government has passed numerous legislation, acts, and laws pertaining to the Civil Rights Movement. You are to choose four of these milestones and briefly (two-three sentences at most) explain what they were and how they relate to your topic. Refer to your notes, too!
6. Responses
a. Select two of the attached topics to respond to that illustrate problems in Civil Rights today.
b. Each response, however, is to be done individually.
c. Minimum of one paragraph response.
It is highly recommended that you/your group chooses the topics first so you can respond for homework. This will allow you more class time to complete the assignment.
